The trouble with working
Nothing ever gets done around the house anymore. It's sad, but true.
We are drowning in laundry. Please send a liferaft. And a maid.
It's not that I did all that much around the house when I was at home all day, but when I was at home all day, a little bit of effort on a daily basis kept the chaos down.
I know other people manage it somehow. They keep their houses tidy and their laundry (which of course lives in hampers when dirty and gets promptly put into drawers and closets when clean, instead of living on the floor when dirty and in hampers when clean) done.
I think we've got about 5 loads to do, not counting the baby clothing. Or the sheets.
Yes, it's all in color-sorted piles in the hallway. Why? Because the hamper for dirty laundry never made it back up from the basement, and I've grown accustomed to it this way. Just like I've become accustomed to the back of the sofa turning into our mail rack.
I haven't seen my countertops in weeks. Needless to say, fast and frozen foods have made a stunning comeback in our lives.
Between working full-time and mothering a mobile baby, I have no energy for things like cooking and cleaning. And so help me, I kind of miss them.

I don't have any advice, just a big YUP.
Actually, I do have one piece of advice. If you throw in a load of laundry right before dinner, and then put it in the dryer after dinner, and manage to do this a couple-three times a week, it's possible to keep up. It's 5 minutes and remembering to do it (unless you are way more painstaking with your laundry than me.) If you have in-home laundry, that is. Which I insisted on as a condition of giving birth.
I need to remember to do our (meaning the adult's) laundry more often. This falling behind is with me doing at least four loads a week. Usually that means two loads of diapers, a load of baby clothing, and one load of blacks.
On a good week, we'll do two loads of blacks.
I'm pretty proud of us, however. We managed to do several loads over the weekend, so once again, I have non-holey underwear AND socks that match.
