Silver linings to overpriced regions of the country
So, it sounds like our thrift and consignment stores here have a slightly better selection than some of the other places. Finally! A reason to be thankful for all the people who can afford our insanely high cost of living and the stores that cater to them!
The brands I see on a regular to semi-regular basis, both thrifting and at consignment:
- Baby Lulu
- Baby Gap
- Old Navy
- Flapdoodles
- Le Top
- Hanna Andersson
- Baby N
- Gymboree
- Robeez
Stephanie: for dresses, I put her in leggings or stretch pants, with the dress over that. Most of her dresses in heavy rotation are comfortable and stretchy cotton-based ones, so leggings and stretchy pants look cute with them instead of weird.

There's a resale shop where my mom lives that is incredible. I've never seen Hannas, but there's regularly Gap and Gymboree and Old Navy and Carter's stuff. Every time I'm down we head over there, and I've gotten some great stuff for Sara.
It's so funny, too -- there were never any resale shops around when the boys were little, and I never had anyone to get hand-me-downs from. Sara's wardrobe is probably 75% used, but then the urge to buy cute stuff for a little girl after all these years is fairly overwhelming.
That's a great idea about the leggings. I've seen older little girls wear leggings with dresses (i.e. Casper) but I hadn't thought about it for Ellie. I've never seen them at the stores around here but maybe on eBay.
I had never even heard of Hanna until you mentioned it although since then my neighbor brought over her catalog - so much cute stuff.
Ellie's wardrobe is about 75% used, if not more. There's just so much cute stuff at the consignment stores and most of it has hardly been used. Still, I've never seen Robeez there. I asked the woman last week and she had never heard of them (although I have seen two little boys here wearing them since then.)
